Mental Health Assessments in Accordance with Internationally Accepted Principles
Description Mental health assessments should be made in accordance with internationally accepted medical principles and instruments (e.g: WHO's ICD-10 Classification of Mental and Behavioural Disorders - Clinical Descriptions and Diagnostic Guidelines, Tenth Revision, 1992)
Components
This principle includes the following components:
 1. Mental health assessments include:
 a. diagnosis;
b. choice of treatment;
 c. determination of competence;
d. the determination that someone may cause harm to self or others due to a mental disorder;
2. Mental health assessments should only be conducted for purposes directly relating to mental illness or the consequences of mental illness
Implementation
Selected actions suggested to promote this principle are:
1. Promoting clinical training in the use of internationally accepted principles;
2. Refraining from referring to nonclinical criteria, such as political, economic, social, racial
and religious grounds when assessing the potential to cause harm to self or others;
3. Performing complete reassessments each time a new assessment is conducted;
4. Refraining from basing an assessment only on the https://healthcare.healthconferences.orgpast medical history of mental disorder.

Healthcare And Pathology

WHAT IS PATHOLOGY?
Pathology is the study of disease. It is the bridge between science and medicine. It underpins every aspect of patient care, from diagnostic testing and treatment advice to using cutting-edge genetic technologies and preventing disease.
The word "pathology" means the study of diseases processes. Pathology involves examining the cause of illness, how it develops, the effect of the illness on cells and the outcome of the illness.
The aspects of illness that may be studied include cellular pathology, cell necrosis or cell death, wound healing, cancer formation and inflammation. A combination of both anatomical pathology and clinical pathology is termed general pathology.
For a person to qualify as a pathologist, they need to complete a medical degree and a residency program that leads to certification from approved boards
TYPES OF PATHOLOGY
·         Anatomical pathology
This area of pathology involves the examination of surgical specimens removed from the body or sometimes the examination of the whole body (autopsy) to investigate and diagnose disease. On examining a biopsy, the following aspects are considered:
·         Surgical pathology - This involves the examination of specimens obtained during surgery such as a breast lump biopsy obtained during mastectomy
·         Histopathology - This refers to the examination of cells under a microscope after they have been stained with appropriate dyes.
·         Cytopathology - In cytopathology, cells that have been shed into bodily fluids or have been obtained by scraping or aspirating tissue are examined. Typical examples include cervical smear, sputum and gastric washings.
·         Forensic pathology involves the post mortem examination of a corpse for the cause of death using a process called autopsy.
·         Dermatopathology concerns the study of skin diseases.

·         Clinical pathology
This branch of pathology involves the laboratory analysis of body fluids (such as blood, urine or cerebrospinal fluid) and bodily tissue for the diagnosis of disease. Some of the main subspecialties of clinical pathology include:

Health and Nutrition

What is Health?

Health is not merely the absence of any disease, but complete mental and physical and social wellbeing.
Today, three types of definition of health seem to be possible and are used. The first is that health is the absence of any disease or impairment. The second is that health is a state that allows the individual to adequately cope with all demands of daily life (implying also the absence of disease and impairment). The third definition states that health is a state of balance, an equilibrium that an individual has established within himself and between himself and his social and physical environment.

 What is nutrition?

The process of providing or obtaining the food necessary for health and growth.
Inorganic Nutrients -A number of inorganic elements (minerals) are essential for the growth of living things. Similarly, iodine (as iodide) is required in animals for the formation of thyroxine
Organic nutrients-The organic nutrients are the necessary building blocks of various cell components that certain organisms cannot synthesize and therefore must obtain performed. These compounds include carbohydrates, protein, and lipids.

 How Nutrition Affects  Women

Women are more likely to suffer from nutritional deficiencies than men are, for reasons including women’s reproductive biology, low social status, poverty, and lack of education. Sociocultural traditions and disparities in household work patterns can also increase women’s chances of being malnourished Globally, 50 per cent of all pregnant women are anaemic, and at least 120 million women in less developed countries are underweight. Research shows that being underweight hinders women’s productivity and can lead to increased rates of illness and mortality. In some regions, the majority of women are underweight: In South Asia, for example, an estimated 60 per cent of women are underweight.
Many women who are underweight are also stunted, or below the median height for their age. Stunting is a known risk factor for obstetric complications such as obstructed labour and the need for skilled intervention during delivery, leading to injury or death for mothers and their newborns. It also is associated with reduced work capacity
